  Coverage:   November 18, 2016 - November 29, 2016
Description:   Looking at our Earth from space, it is obvious that we live on a water planet. Ocean covers over 70% of the Earth's surface and contains about 97% of the Earth's surface water. Life in the oceans can be found from the surface to the extreme environments at the bottom of the deepest submarine trench. It is not surprising that the oceans represent over 99% of the living space on Earth...we are indeed living on what is truly an ocean planet.

Description:   The Planetary Environments Laboratory studies the chemistry of atmospheres and surfaces of planets and their moons. We participate in all phases of planetary investigations, from defining and developing specialized instrumentation to analyzing, interpreting, distributing, and archiving data collected during flight missions. We provide a basis for planetary mission studies through a vigorous program of planetary analog research that includes laboratory simulations of planetary environments, geochemical and isotopic analysis, computational modeling of planetary atmospheres, and field studies of planetary analog sites.

  Coverage:   November 18, 2016 - November 18, 2016
Description:   The Geospace Physics Laboratory focuses on processes occurring in the magnetospheres of magnetized planets and on the interaction of the solar wind with planetary magnetospheres. Researchers also study processes, such as magnetofluid turbulence, that permeate the heliosphere from the solar atmosphere to the edge of the solar system.Laboratory researchers conceive and develop missions to observe plasma phenomena throughout geospace, other planetary magnetospheres, and the heliosphere. The Laboratory develops improved instrumentation and theoretical models to investigate plasma processes. It establishes partnerships throughout the international science community, providing data access, analysis tools, and user support.
